The development of science and technology has brought about the continuous improvement and improvement of people's lives. As a new type of product, LED street lights provide the convenience of lighting for people's travel. More and more roads are beginning to choose to install LED street lights. So how do LED street lights prevent lightning strikes?

Lightning protection of LED street lights should be considered from two aspects

The first is direct lightning protection. For LED street lamps erected independently in open and remote areas, it is necessary to consider installing lightning rods on the poles as direct lightning protection for LED street lamps to prevent them from being damaged by direct lightning strikes.

Followed by induction lightning (also called secondary lightning) protection, induction lightning is mainly caused by electrostatic induction or electromagnetic induction on the power supply and signal lines of the LED when lightning is active, and a surge voltage or surge current is generated on the line, thereby affecting or destroying LED street light equipment.

Induction lightning mainly infringes the equipment through the line, so the protection should be considered from the incoming line of the equipment.

The power lightning protection of LED street lights can choose corresponding lightning protection products according to its incoming line voltage (and local thunderstorm days), generally two-level protection can be done;

Signal lightning protection can be connected in series with the corresponding signal lightning protection device in the signal line of the LED street light (the selection of the signal lightning protection device is mainly based on the type of the signal line), generally installed at the front end of the LED street light signal line entering the equipment and the signal line entering the control room equipment end.

The second is to do the lightning protection grounding, working grounding, SPD grounding, etc. of the LED street lights. It is advisable to share the grounding device, and the grounding resistance should be less than 4 ohms.
